Officially Certified TCM Master Program Co-sponsored by BUCM and Transilvania University of Brașov, Romania, Kicked Off

  On October 28, 2019, the first session of the TCM Master Program jointly launched by BUCM and Medical School of Transilvania University of Brașov officially opened in Romania. Taught in English and officially certified by Ministry of Education of Romania, this two-year program has been designed for Western medicine practitioners. After finishing the program, graduates meeting requirements prescribed in the program will been granted with Master Degree of TCM from Transilvania University of Brașov or the Master Degree from BUCM.

  The first session of this program has enrolled a total of 20 students, who were selected from 30 candidates including Western medicine doctors, physiotherapists and nurses practicing in Romania. The modular teaching system for this program has been designed based on BUCM's years of experience in English teaching in graduate education in response to the local Chinese and Western medicine policies and the needs of practitioners in Western medicine in Romania. All TCM courses will be taught by well-known scholars in the field dispatched by BUCM.

  Professor Zhang Liping, Assistant to the President of BUCM and Executive Deputy Dean of the Graduate School, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. She expressed her hope that after taking this program, students could make more contributions to human health through making use of the power of both the Chinese and the Western medicine.

  Transilvania University of Brașov, Romania is the largest university in central Romania, having 19,000 students and 18 colleges. Its medical school graduates enjoy the highest passing rate in examinations for doctors in Romania. During her visit, leading the BUCM delegation, Zhang Liping held an in-depth discussion on future sustainable development of the TCM Master Program with leaders from the Transilvania University of Brașov. She expressed the hope that through the joint efforts of both parties and starting from specific situation of Romania, the two universities would build the only official TCM Master Program under the "17+1 Cooperation" Mechanism Framework into a high-quality and high-influence educational exchange and cooperation program in Central and Eastern Europe and even the entire Europe, thus to promote cultural exchanges and mutual learning, effectively bring more health and well-being to the people of Central and Eastern Europe, and further enhance the global influence of the "17+1 Cooperation" Mechanism, to ultimately enable the international dissemination of traditional Chinese medicine to truly serve the diplomatic strategy of China.
