Grand Opening of BUCM Chinese Medicine Center at Saint Petersburg----The First Legally Acknowledged TCM Hospital in Russia
On the afternoon, July 3, 2016, Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong attended the opening ceremony of BUCM Chinese Medicine Center at Saint Petersburg and witnessed the official inauguration of the first accredited TCM hospital in Russia chaired by BUCM President Xu Anlong and Feliks V. Karmazinov, General Director of SUE Vodokanal of St. Petersburg, Russia. This Center is an important collaborative project of BUCM, SUE Vodokanal of St. Petersburg, Pavlov First Saint Petersburg State Medical University, North-Western State Medical University named after L. L. Mechnikov, St. Petersburg University, and N.N. Petrov Research Institute of Oncology. It aims to establish a platform for TCM teaching and research in Russia, benefit Russian people with TCM therapies, and strengthen friendly exchanges between China and Russia.

The establishment of the Center has been made possible by the support from the Chinese and Russian governments, educational, medical, research, and cultural institutions, and enterprises. For example, Vice Premier Liu Yandong has been paying close attention and giving full support to the center, offering advice and guidance. She stressed that TCM is a national treasure of China. and the Center has paved the way and set an good example for the globalization of TCM,
In addition, the Center has enjoyed great support from Leonid Mikhailovich Roshal, Chairman of Russian Health Organization, the government of Saint Petersburg and the State Duma including Sergey V. Zheleznyak, Vice Chairman of the State Duma, Sergey V. Kalashnikov, Chairman of the Committee for Health Protection of the State Duma, Feliks V. Karmazinov, General Director of SUE Vodokanal of St. Petersburg, and Professor Anatory M. Ignashov, President of Pavlov First St. Petersburg State Medical University. As an important project of TCM globalization, the Center marks the culmination of the wisdom and hard work of TCM professionals in China and Russia and the friendship between Chinese and Russian people.
