BUCM Delegation Visited the United States of America

From January 28th to February 1st, a joint delegation of BUCM and ENN led by President Xu Anlong visited Harvard Medicine School, Georgetown University and Cornell University.

 

At Harvard University, the delegation visited the Dana Farber Cancer Center and Zakim Integrate Medical Center to meet with Jeffery S. Flier, the Dean of Harvard Medicine School, Dr. Edward Benz, director of Dana Farber Cancer Center, and Professor Elizabeth Nabel, dean of the Women's Hospital, to discuss potential bilateral cooperation. The three directors all expressed willingness to work with BUCM in TCM scientific research. At the invitation of Dr. Edward Benz, director of Dana Farber Cancer Center, President Xu Anlong delivered a lecture with the titled “Zheng: A Systems Biology Approach to Diagnosis and Treatments for Traditional Chinese Medicine” to the Harvard medical students and staff.

 

At the Medicine School of Georgetown University, the delegation spoke with Exectutive Dean of the School of Medicine, Howard J. Federoff, and Professor Auiad Harainati, to discuss the establishment of a traditional Chinese medicine center in Georgetown. Both sides reached a preliminary agreement.

 

In New York, the delegation visited Carolyn Maloney, congresswoman and Chairman of the United States House Committee of Financial Services of the United States House of Representatives. Both sides view promoting communication of TCM as important content in Sino-US cultural exchange. The delegation also met with Professor Lorraine Gudas, chair of the Department of Pharmacology at Cornell Medical College and discussed the possibility of cooperation in Chinese herbal medicine and western medicine.

 

During the visit, the delegation had a meeting with BUCM Alumni in America.
