The library at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine holds a collection of more than 800,000 books, with 260,000 books specifically on TCM, 230,00 books on biomedicine and 310,000 books in the humanities and social sciences. It subscribes yearly to more than 100,000 current periodicals and has a collection of more than 110,000 past issues. In addition, the library has 83,000 on TCM in Chinese and 27,000 on TCM and biomedicine in foreign languages. It also maintains a collection of more than 120 rare TCM classics, which were published in Ming and Qing dynasties, along with subscriptions to more than 40 databases. The library serves as a centre for consultation on science and technology which was established by the China Ministry of Education in 2004 (official code: YZH01).
