From July 13 to 17, 2026, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM) hosted the inaugural "Growth Partners" Summer School as part of the CM "101 Plan." This event brought together 58 outstanding students from six CM universities across China, including Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Tianjin, Shanghai, and Nanjing, for a comprehensive learning experience. The program aimed to cultivate top-tier CM talent through diverse educational activities, emphasizing self-exploration and practical learning.

BUCM President Tang Zhishu opened the event by discussing the significance of the "101 Plan," highlighting the Ministry of Education's focus on nurturing innovative talents. He emphasized BUCM's commitment to the plan and the summer school's role in fostering collaboration among CM universities. Tang urged students to embrace three key values: national responsibility, intellectual exchange, and enduring friendships.

The opening ceremony featured the debut of the summer school's theme song, "Qihuang Growth Partners," composed by BUCM student Li Yunyi. The event was hosted by Vice Dean Tang Yang of the Qihuang College.

Following the ceremony, Professor Gu Xiaohong delivered a lecture on the holistic approach of renowned CM practitioners, encouraging students to integrate digital technology with traditional medical wisdom. On July 15, students visited the Wang Qi Academy, where they engaged with academician Wang Qi on CM thinking and intrinsic motivation.

The program included lectures from young scholars on blending clinical practice with research. Mao TangYou discussed the integration of clinical and research paths, while Associate Professor Luo Changyong and Chief Physician Cao Kegang explored AI's role in CM.

The summer school featured practical activities such as visits to historical and cultural sites, CM museums, and fieldwork in medicine identification. Students participated in forums and discussions on AI's role in CM education and innovation.

The event concluded with a presentation and awards ceremony, celebrating the students' achievements and encouraging future cross-university collaborations to foster innovative CM talent.
