On July 3, 2026, the "Digital Intelligence in Traditional Chinese Medicine" forum was held in Beijing as part of the Global Digital Economy Conference 2026. Co-hosted by the Beijing Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM), the event focused on the theme "Digital Initiatives for Herbal Wisdom." It brought together government officials, academic institutions, healthcare providers, and industry leaders to explore the integration of digital technologies with Chinese medicine (CM), aiming to modernize and transform the field.

Prominent attendees included Luo Zenggang, deputy director of the Beijing Health Commission, and Li Yu, deputy secretary of BUCM. During the opening ceremony, several digital innovation achievements were unveiled. Notably, BUCM introduced the "Xinhuo TCM" large model, a pioneering project designed to support education, teaching, research, management, and international dissemination in CM. Now in its 2.0 version, the model has been enhanced with high-quality data sets and advanced pre-training techniques, becoming the first CM model to receive national generative AI service registration in China.

Another key innovation presented was the digital CM olfactory diagnostic instrument, developed by BUCM's Researcher Zhang Mei in collaboration with BUCM Dongfang Hospital and Beijing Institute of Technology. This tool uses small-scale mass spectrometry to detect trace volatile organic compounds in clinical samples, facilitating non-invasive diagnosis and prognosis prediction for major diseases like cardiovascular and digestive disorders.

The "Digital Intelligence in CM" forum, now in its fourth year, is the only professional forum at the Global Digital Economy Conference dedicated to CM digitization. Beijing aims to leverage its technological and industrial strengths to enhance CM's role in building a global digital economy hub.
