On June 16, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM) held its 2026 Scholarship Awards and Gratitude Donation Ceremony at the Liangxiang Campus West Courtyard. The event was attended by Party Committee Deputy Secretary and President Tang Zhishu, Party Committee Standing Committee Member and Vice President Wang Ting, social donation representatives, department heads, and award-winning students and faculty. Vice President Yan Zhenfan hosted the ceremony.

In his speech, President Tang emphasized the university's commitment to student support, highlighting enhancements in scholarship programs since 2024. By 2025, the total scholarship fund reached 98.15 million yuan($14.42 million), with 80% of master's students and all Ph.D. students receiving scholarships. This comprehensive support system combines material incentives with spiritual encouragement, thanks to generous contributions from alumni, enterprises, and friends of the university.

President Tang urged students to embody four key roles: steadfast practitioners with strong cultural and professional foundations; pioneers integrating modern technology with traditional Chinese medicine; leaders fostering collaboration; and global-minded individuals committed to public health and the international promotion of Chinese medicine. He encouraged students to use their honors as a starting point for deeper engagement in the revitalization of Chinese medicine.

Vice President Yan Zhenfan presided over the awards, while Vice President Wang Ting announced the honorees. Corporate representatives, including Ma Lufeng of Tianjin Hongri Pharmaceutical, Geng Chunfeng of Beijing Chunfeng Pharmaceutical, and Zhou Lin of Guangdong Yifang Pharmaceutical, shared their commitment to supporting young talent in Chinese medicine.

Undergraduate National Scholarship recipient Wang Zetong expressed gratitude for the support that has fueled his growth, highlighting the educational impact of the scholarship system.

President Tang, Vice President Wang, and faculty leaders presented appreciation plaques to donors, thanking them for their unwavering support of BUCM's mission.

The ceremony showcased BUCM's dedication to nurturing Chinese medicine talent, emphasizing collaboration and innovation. The university aims to continue enhancing its support system, fostering a cycle of support, education, and contribution to cultivate top-tier, innovative leaders in Chinese medicine.
