A delegation led by Liu Cunzhi, vice president of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM), visited Transilvania University of Brașov in Romania and the Dedinje Cardiovascular Institute in Serbia to strengthen international ties. The team included key figures from BUCM, such as Wang Yong, Sun Luying, An Chao, and Jiang Li.

BUCM has established the only EU-accredited Master’s program in Chinese medicine (CM) at Transilvania University, with courses delivered in English by BUCM faculty. The visit aimed to optimize the program's curriculum and enhance talent development. Both institutions agreed to expand faculty and student exchanges, joint research, and clinical collaborations.

The delegation toured medical school facilities, clinical training bases, and the Brașov County Clinical Emergency Hospital, engaging with faculty, students, and medical staff to understand the program's implementation and local TCM service needs, setting a foundation for future collaboration.

In Serbia, Vice President Liu and Milovan Bojić, director of the Dedinje Cardiovascular Institute, signed a memorandum of understanding. This agreement leverages both institutions' strengths in cardiovascular disease diagnosis and treatment, talent development, research innovation, and CM clinical applications.

The Dedinje Institute, a leading cardiovascular center in the Balkans, will collaborate with BUCM on CM drug application, postoperative rehabilitation, and CM therapies, exploring new integrative medicine models. Both parties aim to conduct joint studies and implement collaborative projects by combining their medical and research resources.

Vice President Liu emphasized CM's global reach and its significant role in disease prevention and treatment. The partnership with the Dedinje Institute will enhance cardiovascular disease prevention and treatment in Serbia, broadening BUCM’s international cooperation in Central and Eastern Europe, and promoting CM's global development and integrative medicine innovation.

The visit was successful, advancing CM education, healthcare, and research in the region, and contributing to the global health community.
