Professor Tang Zhishu, president of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM), warmly welcomed a delegation from Brazil's University of Campinas (UNICAMP), led by Vice President Professor Fernando Coelho. The meeting was attended by Wei Peng, deputy director of the International Cooperation Office, and foreign affairs specialists Huang Yiwen, Chen Xinying, and Zhao Yameng.

President Tang highlighted the recent legalization of acupuncture in Brazil, marking a significant opportunity for Chinese Medicine (CM) in the country. He emphasized BUCM's commitment to collaboration with UNICAMP, noting several mutual visits and a signed memorandum of understanding as strong foundations for future cooperation. The two universities aim to expand practical cooperation in areas such as faculty and student exchanges, talent development, research collaboration, and the international dissemination of CM, particularly through the construction of a CM center in Brazil.

Vice President Coelho expressed gratitude for the warm reception and praised BUCM's achievements in CM education, research, and international outreach. He noted that UNICAMP has been actively planning the development of CM through specialized seminars and aims to enhance the CM education system, implement joint research projects, and deepen high-level talent exchange and academic cooperation, setting a new standard for Sino-Brazilian medical education and research collaboration.

Eloisa Garcia Claro, a member of the delegation, detailed UNICAMP's advancements in building international research platforms and interdisciplinary cooperation. She suggested further enhancing the collaboration mechanism by establishing a special cooperation fund, promoting student exchanges, developing exemplary course systems, and conducting teaching quality assessments to support the dissemination and development of CM in Brazil.

UNICAMP, a top public research university in Brazil, is renowned for its influence in medicine, life sciences, engineering, artificial intelligence, and agricultural sciences. This year marks BUCM's 70th anniversary and UNICAMP's 60th, offering a significant opportunity to deepen collaboration. The discussions solidified cooperative consensus and expanded collaborative space, promising to elevate Sino-Brazilian CM education, research, and international communication to new heights and contribute to global health initiatives.
