On May 21, the promotion conference for the "Classification and Determination of Chinese Medicine (CM) Constitution" National Standard (GB/T 46939—2025) was held at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. The event, hosted by the university and the National CM Standardization Technical Committee, aimed to explain the standard, release its implementation plan, and promote its application in healthcare and wellness industries.

Key figures included Wang Qi, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and leaders from educational, medical, and industry sectors. Liu Cunshi, vice president of the university, chaired the meeting.

President Tang Zhishu emphasized that the standard, effective since April 2026, marks a milestone in TCM standardization, aiding in health management and industry development by providing a unified benchmark for CM constitution identification.

Chen Junfeng, deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, highlighted the standard's role in enhancing the CM system and promoting preventive health concepts. He called for thorough promotion, ongoing research, and industry collaboration.

Academician Wang Qi discussed the standard's significance in addressing chronic diseases and aging, advocating for proactive health management. The standard, developed over 15 years, offers broad applicability and evidence-based methodologies.

The conference also featured the launch of related initiatives and cooperation agreements, aiming to integrate CM health concepts into daily life. This event set the stage for widespread implementation, with Beijing University of Chinese Medicine leading efforts to advance CM scholarship and public health.
