
The "Xinhuo Chinese Medicine" educational AI model, led by Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, has become the first traditional Chinese medicine (CM) AI model to pass national generative AI service registration in China. This achievement marks a significant step forward in the compliant and regulated use of AI in the CM field.
CM involves health education, herbal knowledge, and cultural heritage, requiring stringent safety standards. While several models have registered their foundational algorithms, none had fully registered for public service until now. The successful registration of "Xinhuo Chinese Medicine" opens a new path for CM AI models to serve the public effectively.
Developed with support from the Ministry of Education and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the model was created in partnership with over ten CM institutions, iFlytek, and the China Traditional Chinese Medicine Publishing House. It was selected for the Ministry of Education's generative AI education models, with its 1.0 version launched in 2025. Built on iFlytek Spark and DeepSeek platforms, the model integrates extensive CM texts and data to form a 70-billion-parameter intelligent system, focusing on learning, teaching, research, management, and international communication.
The development team aims to enhance the model's knowledge base and service capabilities, providing intelligent applications for education, research, and cultural dissemination to CM students, scholars, and enthusiasts worldwide. They are committed to maintaining content safety and the rigor of CM theories, fostering an open digital education ecosystem, and empowering traditional medicine's development through AI innovation.
