Traditional Chinese Medicine Center launched in Turkmenistan

From April 15 to 17, a delegation led by Tang Zhishu, president of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM), visited Turkmenistan to establish a new Traditional Chinese Medicine (CM) Center. This initiative is a collaboration with the Myrat Garryyev State Medical University of Turkmenistan. The agreement was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding and was celebrated with an inauguration ceremony for the CM Center and classroom. The signing was witnessed by Chinese Vice-Premier Ding Xuexiang and Turkmenistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Rashid Meredov, during the seventh meeting of the China-Turkmenistan Cooperation Committee.

The delegation's visit included discussions with key figures such as Ji Shumin, the Chinese Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Turkmenistan's Minister of Health and Medical Industry Amannepesov, and Muratnazarova, president of the State Medical University. Both parties recognized the potential of integrating CM with Turkmenistan's abundant medicinal plant resources.

At the inauguration ceremony, Atabayeva, vice chairwoman of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow Charitable Foundation for Children, toured the new  CM classroom. In recognition of his efforts, Tang Zhishu was awarded an honorary professorship by the Turkmenistan State Medical University.

The establishment of the CM Center signifies a major step forward in China-Turkmenistan medical cooperation. The signed memorandum and the new center represent the beginning of a deeper partnership. Future collaboration will focus on talent development, medical cooperation, and herbal research, aiming to create a new model of integrated development in medical education and research. Both countries are committed to exploring sustainable cooperation paths, leveraging traditional medicine to benefit their populations and contribute to the global health community.
