On March 22, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM) inaugurated the Future Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Practitioners program, known as the Wang Qi Class, at its Heping Street campus. The ceremony was attended by Wang Qi, a renowned academician and TCM master, as well as university leaders and distinguished guests from major Chinese media and publishing organizations.

The Wang Qi Academy aims to integrate classical TCM knowledge with modern innovations, fostering top-tier talent. The Wang Qi Class represents a strategic initiative to explore new education models in TCM.

BUCM President Tang Zhishu highlighted the class as a pioneering reform in talent cultivation. He urged students to uphold TCM traditions, innovate through integration with modern technology, respect their mentors, and commit to serving humanity.

Academician Wang Qi emphasized the program's unique blend of institutional and mentorship education, encouraging students to root their studies in classical wisdom while pursuing innovation. He expressed confidence in their future roles as leaders in TCM development.

Vice-President Wang Ting encouraged students to follow their mentors' guidance and make the most of their educational journey. The ceremony included the announcement of selected students, delivered by Liu Tiegang, director of Academic Affairs.

Mentor representative Professor Liu Jinmin shared his professional experiences, highlighting the mentors' dedication. Student representative He Jingyue expressed the cohort's enthusiasm for TCM heritage and innovation.

The event featured congratulatory messages from over 20 TCM institutions, a video showcase, and concluded with the 2025 cohort reciting excerpts from Wang Qi's On Mentorship, celebrating the tradition of TCM mentorship.
