Recently, the "Beijing Key Laboratory of New Chinese Medicine Development for Aging-Related Chronic Diseases," proposed by Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, has been officially approved following expert reviews and on-site evaluations organized by the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission and the Zhongguancun Science Park Administrative Committee.

The laboratory addresses the pressing medical needs of the elderly population suffering from multiple chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. It aligns with Beijing's innovation-driven development strategy and is established in collaboration with Dongzhimen Hospital, under the direction of Professor Tang Zhishu from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, with Researcher Lin Sheng and Professor Wang Yong serving as executive directors.

Focusing on the prevention and treatment of aging-related chronic diseases, the laboratory aims to build an integrated platform for the development of innovative Chinese medicines. It adheres to the core philosophy of "inheriting the essence of traditional Chinese medicine and integrating modern technology," emphasizing a holistic and multi-targeted approach guided by Chinese medicine theories. The lab seeks to construct a comprehensive collaborative innovation system spanning clinical issues, technological breakthroughs, and industrial applications. By conducting pioneering and original research, the laboratory aims to produce innovative Chinese medicines with significant clinical value and competitive advantages, thereby providing core technological support for Beijing's goal of becoming a "hub for the inheritance and innovation of Chinese medicine" and a "demonstration zone for the big health industry," ultimately creating a "Beijing model" for the prevention and treatment of aging-related chronic diseases.
