Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM) has achieved a major breakthrough in the 2025 Beijing Natural Science Foundation project applications, receiving approval for five grants—three basic research projects and two applied research projects. For the first time, the university’s cultivation project was approved, marking a significant leap forward. This accomplishment highlights the effectiveness of BUCM’s “dual-core driven” research strategy: Haidian-based fundamental projects focus on Chinese Medicine (CM) theory and acupuncture mechanisms, while Daxing-based applied projects target intelligent Chinese medicine manufacturing and translation of research outcomes, forming a full-chain innovation system from basic research to industrial application.

In recent years, the university has continuously advanced CM modernization by optimizing its academic structure and strengthening industry–academia–research collaboration. Looking ahead, BUCM will align its efforts with the “Four Orientations,” concentrating on major disease prevention and treatment, smart diagnostics and other key areas, accelerating the transformation of scientific discoveries into new productive capabilities. This latest achievement signifies a new level of research strength for the university and will contribute further CM knowledge and innovations to the development of the Healthy China strategy.
