The Library of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, established in 1956, has three branches: Hepingjie Campus Library, Liangxiang East Library, and Liangxiang West Library. The libraries provide 1,160 reading seats and are open 105 hours per week.

The collection is centered on literature related to Chinese medicine (CM), supplemented by Western medical works and resources from other disciplines. By the end of 2024, the library held 1.49 million printed volumes. It also provides access to 1.59 million e-books in both Chinese and foreign languages, and it subscribes to 55 databases and literature management software systems.

The library holds nearly 40,000 volumes of rare ancient books, including Ming and Qing editions, Republican-era publications, and modern prints from China, Japan, and Korea. Among these are over 2,600 titles of ancient medical works, comprising nearly 20,000 volumes, with eight titles recognized in the National Catalogues of Precious Ancient Books. The collection is further enriched by donations of rare texts, manuscripts, and archival materials from distinguished scholars and senior CM physicians associated with BUCM.

The library has independently developed the Digital Resource Platform for BUCM Ancient and Republican-Era Thread-Bound Books and the BUCM Thesis and Dissertation Database, which contains doctoral and master’s dissertations from the 1980s to the present, offering retrieval and reading services to faculty and students.

In late 2003, the library joined the Beijing Academic Library & Information System (BALIS), providing interlibrary loan services for BUCM readers and members of the consortium.
