School of Acupuncture,Moxibustion and Tuina

Established in 1982, the Department of Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Tuina, BUCM, was renamed the School of Acupuncture and Moxibustion in 2000 when it was merged with the Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion of the former Beijing College of Acupuncture, Moxibustion, Osteology and Traumatology. In 2009, it assumed its present name the School of Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Tuina on the ground of its rapid and coordinated development.

 

The school now offers seven bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programs, including a five-year program of acupuncture, moxibustion and tuina, a five-year program of acupuncture, moxibustion and tuina with concentration on acupotomy, a seven-year TCM program with concentration on acupuncture, tuina and English, a seven-year TCM program with concentration on acupuncture and tuina, a seven-year TCM program with concentration on acupuncture, tuina, and rehabilitation, an eight-year honor TCM program with concentration on acupuncture, moxibustion and tuina, and an eight-year honor TCM program with concentration on acupuncture, tuina and English. The programs are characterized by high quality, internationalization with an emphasis on capacity building.

 

Science of acupuncture and moxibustion of the school is a key discipline accredited by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SATCM). The discipline of acupuncture, moxibustion and tuina is authorized as a national keystone subject. Its Biological Laboratory of Acupuncture and Moxibustion is acknowledged by SATCM as a top-level lab. The Acupuncture Particular Therapy Center is regarded as a core lab. Its acupuncture and tuina is a program with distinctive features at the national and Beijing municipal level. Its faculty team is assessed as an excellent team in Beijing. The course of Meridians and Acupoints Studies is a national model one taught in Chinese and English.
