Inauguration of China-Germany Center for Traditional Chinese Medicine (Kötzting)

  On the afternoon of December 8, 2018 (German local time), the inauguration of the China-Germany Center for Traditional Chinese Medicine (Kötzting) was held in Kötzting Hospital. Attendees of the event included Prof. Yu Yanhong, Party Secretary, State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Prof. Wang Wei, Vice-President of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Prof. Tang Minke, Director of BUCM International Cooperation Department, Prof. Dai Jingzhang, President of Kötzting Hospital of the Chinese counterpart, MdL Bernhard Seidenath, President of Health Committee in Bavarian State Parliament (Vorsitzenden des Gesundheitsausschusses im Bayerischen Landtag), Mr. Franz Löffler, County Councillor of Cham County and President of District Council (Landrat des Landkreises Cham und Bezirkstagspräsidenten), Mr. Markus Hofmann, Mayor of City of Bad Kötzting (Bürgermeister der Stadt Bad Kötzting), Mr. Anton Staudinger, General Manager of Kötzting Hospital, and Chinese and German medical staff of the hospital. Ms. Mao Jingqiu, Consul General of China in Munich, sent a congratulatory letter.

  During the ceremony, Prof. Dai Jingzhang gave a detailed introduction to the recent progress and future objectives of the center. Prof. Wang Wei in his speech pointed out that the Kötzting Hospital affiliated to Beijing University of Chinese Medicine was approved and sponsored by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2018 to launch the China-Germany Center for Traditional Chinese Medicine (Kötzting), a special international cooperation project of TCM. This has not only fully acknowledged the achievements made by the hospital since its establishment in 1991, but also showed the way for its future development in many areas. Vice President Wang believed that in the future the center will, under the guidance of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, further explore vigorously in the fields of TCM medical services, professional training, collaborative research of traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine, TCM standardization and dissemination of Chinese culture, and the center and the hospital will continue to play an exemplary and leading role in the international dissemination of traditional Chinese medicine.

  Prof. Yu Yanhong applauded in her address that during the 27 years since its establishment, Kötzting Hospital has been providing TCM services for patients in Germany and even from around the world by giving full play to the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine, and has made important contributions to the international development of traditional Chinese medicine. The Chinese governmental support for the China-Germany Center for Traditional Chinese Medicine in Kötzting Hospital is not only a high commendation for the past achievements, but also an expectation for the future. It is hoped that the center and hospital will take this opportunity to make further efforts and continue to contribute to the international cooperation and cultural dissemination of TCM.

  Finally, the Chinese and German guests jointly unveiled the China-Germany Center for Traditional Chinese Medicine (Kötzting). The ceremony was successfully concluded in warm applause.
